After I wrote about how much I wanted Bill Raftery to announce the Final Four, I realized Gus Johnson deserves to be sitting alongside with him. The most memorable tournament game I have watched in the past ten years was the second round game of 2007, when Xavier almost upset Ohio State. Gus Johnson was announcing that ball game and had the same emotions I did. I had Ohio State winning the championship and when Ron Lewis hit the three to tie the game at the end of regulation, I lost it right along with Gus. That was one of the best games I ever watched and thankfully Gus announced it.
The day Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery announce a basketball game together is the day I die a happy man, because I will literally have a heart attack the moment the game starts. Can you imagine a buzzer beater situation in which Gus says, "RISE AND FIRE, PUUUUURRRRRRRREEEE" and Raftery chimes in with ONIONS!!!! I am speechless to what I would do at that moment. WOW. GUS and BILL.
