Whether it's football, basketball, or golf Jimmy Nantz is one of my least favorite announcers. He may be the most biased man on television(Michael Kay normally sticks to the radio). Jimmy and Phil Simms announcing Patriots games is the definition of a man crush on Tom Brady. It makes me sick every time I have to listen to Jim and Phil.
With the Final Four coming up this weekend I am not to pumped that I have to listen to Jimmy announce all three games. He should stick to announcing golf. At least tolerable on the links.
However this years Final Four will not be as awful as the past years because CBS broke up the dreadful duo of Billy Packer and Nantz. However CBS decided to make Clark Kellogg the replacement for Packer. I have no problem with Kellogg but he and Nantz will make the game a snoozer. CBS needed to get some emotion for the college basketball tournament, which is always one of the most exciting times of the sports year.
Why would they not choose Bill Raftery? Who wouldn't want a helping of ONIONS in the final seconds of the National Championship game? Bill Raftery and Verne Lundquist is the best pair of announcers on CBS, yet Nantz is the poster boy for some reason. That's a little NICKLE-DIMER there Verne if you ask me. Think of last years championship game. Do you remember what Jim Nantz said when Mario Chalmers hit the three at the buzzer to send it to overtime? NO. If Raftery was announcing that would have been one of the most memorable moments in sports history. That shot was a DAGGER and a double order of ONIONS. Not only would the end of the game had been much better, the entire game would have been amazing. Its a pleasure listening to Raftery for an entire game. SEND IT IN BIG FELLA, with the KISS, there's a little lingerie on the deck. Nothing is better than those phrases and they will be missed greatly for this years final four
