2010 NFL Predictions

2010 NFL Predictions

AFC East

New York Jets 10-6 : It would not surprise me if the Jets flopped and don't make the playoffs, but they have so much talent on defense, especially now that Revis is back, they have a chance to be one of the best of all-time. Hard Knocks worked for the Bengals last season, and Sexy Rexy will make sure the Jets play great defense and have a great run game. As long as Nacho Sanchize doesn't blow 6 or more games the Jets should win the East.

New England Patriots 9-7 : Tom Brady and the offense will be just fine even without Logan Mankins, but they might need to score 30 points a game because the defense might let up 25 or more every game. Other than Vince Wilfork, Jerod Mayo, and Brandon Meriweather they don't have any proven players. I don't think the Pats will be able to overcome the defense and get into the playoffs.

Miami Dolphins 9-7 : I think the Dolphins have the pieces to contend, but I don't think Chad Henne is ready to lead a team into the playoffs yet. He has Brandon Marshall to throw to this season which will help in the future, but I think they are a year away from being a serious championship contender.

Buffalo Bills 4-12 : They don't have a franchise quarterback, they don't have a solid offensive line, they don't have a great defense. To make things worse their head coach, Chan Gailey, has a 18-14 career record when he had Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin on his team. The Bills could be looking at the first pick in April.

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens 11-5 : The Ravens defense will always be solid as long as number 52 is playing linebacker. The offense now has plenty of talent to surround Joe Flacco. The additions of Anquan Boldin and T.J. Houshmandzadeh to go along with Ray Rice will let the Ravens finally have an offense to match its defense, which will allow them to the North.

Pittsburgh Steelers 10-6 : The loss of Big Ben for the first 4 games will determine their season. If they can go 2-2, they could make a run at the Ravens, but starting with the Falcons, Titans, Bucs and Ravens, 1-3 seems very likely. The defense will need to stay healthy for the black and gold to have any shot at January football.

Cincinnati Bengals 8-8 : T.O. and Ochocinco would have been a great duo in 2005. Unfortunately its 2010 and Carson Palmer is not the elite QB everybody thinks he is. His QB rating was only 83.6 last year the lowest of his career when playing 16 games. The Bengals will go back to being the Bungals this year.

Cleveland Browns 3-13 : Jake Delhomme threw 18 interceptions in 11 games last season and he had some weapons to throw to in Carolina. Mohamed Massaquoi is no Steve Smith. Last year the defense ranked 28th and 29th against the rush and the pass. Its going to be a long winter in Cleveland.

AFC South

Indianapolis Colts 13-3 : The Colts seem to always win 12 or more games and I don't see any reason why they won't do the same thing again this year. Even in a strong AFC South the Colts will win the division once again.

Tennessee Titans 11-5* : They finished last season with an 8-2 record once Vince Young became the starter. His stats are never pretty but he wins. He also has the best running back in the league on his team. CJ2K says hes gonna run for 2500 yards this year. I wouldn't bet on that but I do think the Titans get into the playoffs.

Houston Texans 11-5* : This is the year the Texans finally take the next step and get into the playoffs. Matt Schaub threw for career highs in yards, 4770, and TD's, 29, it helps that Andre Johnson is his receiver. They also have a very talented defense with a bunch of first round picks.

Jacksonville Jaguars 7-9 : This could be the last chance for Jack De Rio and David Garrard to show they have what it takes to win. Their defense will determine their season however. Last year they ranked 27th against the pass, a troubling stat considering they play Peyton Manning and Matt Schaub four times.

AFC West

San Diego Chargers 9-7 : Even if Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNeill sit out for the entire season, the Chargers are still more talented the rest of the West. Ryan Mathews gives them an explosive option at running back, something they have been missing for a few seasons.

Denver Broncos 7-9 : Play TEBOW. No Elvis Dumervil for the season doesn't help the defense which ranked 26th against the rush last year. I do think the Broncos will be competitive but they won't make the playoffs.

Kansas City Chiefs 6-10 : Can Charlie Weis turn Matt Cassel into Tom Brady? The Chiefs have given Weis weapons with Jamaal Charles, Thomas Jones, Chris Chambers and Dwayne Bowe. Their downfall will be the defense, which ranked 31st against the run last season. The addition of Eric Berry will help, just not right away.

Oakland Raiders 6-10 : Jason Campbell is a better option than JaMarcus Russell, but does he really have better options at receiver and a better o-line than he did in Washington? I don't think so and he never lived up to expectations in DC. The defense has plenty of talent in Richard Seymour, Big John Henderson, Rolando McClain, Kamerion Wimbley and Nnamdi Asomugha. Unfortunately Tom Cable may be the worst coach in the league, so the Silver and Black won't make the playoffs this year.

NFC East

Philadelphia Eagles 9-7 : The Eagles wouldn't have traded Donovan McNabb within the division if they didn't know something. I think they know Kevin Kolb is the quarterback of the future. It won't be to hard to succeed since he is surrounded by DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy, Brent Celek, and Jeremy Maclin. The addition of rookie Brandon Graham will only strengthen the defense which ranked 3rd in sacks last year. The Eagles will take back the division crown with a new quarterback this year.

Dallas Cowboys 8-8 : Leonard Davis and Andre Gurode are the only proven starters on the offensive line. This isn't good for Tony Romo and the offense. The Cowboys schedule is not easy, games at the Texans, Vikings, Packers, Colts and home games against the Titans and Saints are 6 very tough games and that doesn't even include 6 division games. It seems when the Cowboys are expected to have a big year they always choke.

New York Giants 8-8 : The health of the Giants offensive and defensive lines are going to be the key to their season. If injuries strike on defense, Big Blue will be forced to rely on a mediocre linebackers and cornerbacks. Similar to the Cowboys they play a very tough schedule and will need to win some big games to get into the playoffs.

Washington Redskins 6-10 : Donovan McNabb is already hurt and he has only played a full 16 games one time since 2004. Hes now on a team with less weapons then the Eagles. Defensively, with or without Albert Haynesworth, they have talent and will keep the skins in games, but they won't be in the playoff hunt.

NFC North

Green Bay Packers 12-4 : Their defense ranked 1st against the pass and 5th against the rush. Offensively they have Aaron Rodgers who hasn't even come close to reaching his potential after throwing for 30 TD's last year. The Packers may be the best team in the league. They will run away with the division and get home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

Minnesota Vikings 9-7 : No Sidney Rice for half the season, Percy Harvin with migraines, and Brett Favre on a bad ankle before the season even starts. Those injuries could hurt the offense. Luckily they still have Adrian Peterson and a good defense, which will keep them in the playoff hunt. However the major issue is the Mullet-less Jared Allen, it will be tough for him and the Vikings to overcome that.

Chicago Bears 6-10 : By adding Julius Peppers the Bears hope to improve their defense that ranked 23rd against the run and 13th against the pass. But the Bears will need Jay Cutler to limit his turnovers, 26 interceptions last season, and get Matt Forte to produce like he did in his rookie year to improve the Bears rushing attack which ranked 29th last year.

Detroit Lions 4-12 : The Lions are headed in the right direction. They surrounded Matt Stafford with talent like Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson, Brandon Pettigrew, and rookie Jahvid Best. On defense they added Kyle Vanden Bosch and rookie stud Ndamukong Suh. They will double their win total for the past two seasons, with 4.

NFC South

Atlanta Falcons 11-5 : This is the year Matt Ryan becomes an elite quarterback. He has plenty of weapons on offense including Roddy "I'm not" White, Tony Gonzalez, and a healthy Michael Turner, who missed 5 games last year. On defense they signed Dunta Robinson to go along with one of the best linebackers people haven't heard of, Curtis Lofton. The Falcons not only will win the division, but have the potential to make a run deep into the playoffs.

New Orleans Saints 10-6* : Drew Brees won't get hit by the Madden Curse, so the Saints offense will be as good as they were last year but their defense may not be as good, especially without Darren Sharper for at least 6 weeks. Also, every team wants to take their best shot at the defending champs. The Saints will get back into the playoffs but as a wild card team.

Carolina Panthers 9-7* : The Panthers finished the '09 season winning 4 out of 5 once Matt Moore became the starter. They drafted Jimmy Clausen to be the quarterback of the future but Matt Moore might not give up the job so easily. He has two great running backs, DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, and an All-Pro receiver, Steve Smith. The big question is whether the Panthers defense can find a replacement for Julius Peppers. I think they will and will sneak into the playoffs as the last wild card team.

Tampa Bay Bucs 4-12 : After a 3-13 season, the Bucs need to rebuild the defense that lead them to a Super Bowl victory just eight years ago. By drafting Gerald McCoy, they hope to have found their new Warren Sapp, to help improve their run defense which ranked 32nd last season.

NFC West

San Francisco 49ers 10-6 : If the Niners had chosen Aaron Rodgers over Alex Smith in the 2005 Draft, they could be contending for a Super Bowl this year. They have a solid running game with Frank Gore, talented receivers like Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis along with a talented offensive line. Their defense lead by Patrick Willis ranked 6th against the run last year. Their only question is Alex Smith. He will be good enough to lead the Niners back to the playoffs for the first time since 2002, but they won't be a serious threat to hoist the Lombardi this year.

Arizona Cardinals 7-9 : One rule I would follow, If a quarterback isn't good enough to start for the Cleveland Browns, you probably shouldn't make him your starter. Apparently Kenny Whisenhunt doesn't agree because Derek Anderson, and his 42.1 QB rating, has been given the starting job. The Cardinals will need to rely on Beanie Wells and a defense that lost Karlos Dansby and Antrell Rolle.

Seattle Seahawks 6-10 : Matt Hasselbeck may be in his last year as the starter in Seattle. After two straight losing seasons, with a third one on the way, Pete Carroll will need to find a franchise quarterback soon. If their defense can stay healthy they may avoid 10 losses because they have young talent in Aaron Curry and Earl Thomas.

St. Louis Rams 3-13 : Even if Sam Bradford is the franchise quarterback, the Rams are still a long way away from contending. Other than Steven Jackson, they don't have a lot of talent on offense and defensively they have many holes. They will improve from their 1-15 record last year but not by much.

Offensive Rookie of the Year: Ryan Mathews, RB, San Diego Chargers- With no Vincent Jackson for Phillip Rivers to throw to the Chargers will have to become a more run-oriented team, which means a lot of carries for the NCAA rushing leader last season.

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Brandon Graham, LB, Philadelphia Eagles- He is a beast. Very similar to LaMarr Woodley. He will get over 10 sacks in his rookie year.

NFL MVP: Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers- 5000 passing yards this year is not out of the question. He has become a top 5 quarterback in the league and he will lead the Packers to the best record in the NFC.

Defensive Player of the Year: Patrick Willis, LB, San Francisco 49ers- In 6 of the 8 wins last year the 49ers let up less than 10 points. Willis is the reason for that, he is the Mike Singletary of the Niners defense.

Coach of the Year: Mike Singletary, San Francisco 49ers- "Can not play with 'em. Can not win with 'em. Can not coach with 'em. Can't do it. I WANT WINNERS. I want people that want to win." Hes got winners this year.

Worst Team in NFL: Cleveland Browns, Its going to be a long fall and winter in Cleveland. The Browns don't have the talent to contend in a strong AFC North. To make things worse in Cleveland they don't even have the Cavs season to look forward to and the Indians aren't gonna make them happier in the spring of 2011.

First Coach to be Fired: Eric Mangini, Cleveland Browns- They better get a win in week one or two because 13 of their next 14 games look like L's. Mangini barely held onto his job during the off-season. A 1-11 start won't look to good.

Another Coach on the Hot Seat: Wade Phillips, Dallas Cowboys- Every year the question always comes up will Wade get fired? If the Cowboys start slow or finish badly I don't see Jerry bringing Wade back.

AFC Team most likely to surprise us: Tennessee Titans. Last season they finished the year 8-2 after an 0-6 start. Just two years ago they went 13-3 and were the number one seed in the AFC. Vince Young finally seems comfortable as the starter and how hard is it to hand the ball off to Chris Johnson 25 times a game?

NFC Team most likely to surprise us: Philadelphia Eagles. Many people think they will take a step back after trading Donovan McNabb. But Kevin Kolb is ready to be the starter and he has weapons around him that will allow the Eagles to win the NFC East.

AFC team most likely to flop: New York Jets. The expectations are extremely high for the Jets. The problem is Mark Sanchez. He had a strong finish to his rookie year but he did throw 20 interceptions last year. As long as the Jets play like they did last year, with great defense and a great run game, they should be fine. But if they rely on Sanchez they could be asking for trouble.

AFC flop honorable mention: San Diego Chargers. They could be without Marcus McNeill and Vincent Jackson all year. That's not going to help the offense. They are lucky they play in a weak AFC West, so they should be able to win the division even without two of their best players but if they get off to a slow start like they normally do, it could be tough to make a late playoff run.

NFC team most likely to flop (Other than the Cowboys): Minnesota Vikings. They have some serious injury problems before the season has even started. Brett Favre will have to play the entire season on a bad ankle and he won't have his number one receiver until halfway through the year. If Brett gets hurt or becomes a gunslinger again, the Vikes could miss out on the playoffs.

NFC flop honorable mention: New Orleans Saints. No team has repeated as champs since the Patriots in 2004. Since then the defending champs have missed the playoffs three times and none of them have even repeated as conference champs. The Saints are winners for the first time, how will they handle being the best?

Bold Prediction #1: The Broncos will start the season 0-5. Then Tim Tebow will be named the new starter over Brady Quinn and Tebow will lead the Broncos to a 7-4 finish.

Bold Prediction #2:
Week 5 on Monday Night Football, Brett Favre will have his ankle injured by Bart Scott and his consecutive start streak will be broken in week 6. He won't be out for the entire year but his ankle will linger all year long and cost the Vikings a playoff spot.

Bold Prediction #3:
The Detroit Lions will win 8 games. Their biggest win will be on Turkey Day, when they will upset the Patriots and win their first Thanksgiving Classic since 2003.

Bold Prediction #4: The Steelers will go 4-0 without Big Ben. Dennis Dixon will keep the starting job and lead the Steelers to their 7th Championship.

AFC Playoffs---Last Team Out: Pittsburgh Steelers, Unfortunately I don't think the Steelers will be able to overcome the first four games of the year without Big Ben. Once he returns the schedule doesn't get much easier as they face the Dolphins, Saints, Patriots, Jets and Ravens.

NFC Playoffs---Last Team Out
: Dallas Cowboys, The issues on their offensive line and the tough schedule will lead to a disappointing season for the Cowboys.

AFC Wild Card Round:
New York Jets over Houston Texans
Tennessee Titans over San Diego Chargers

NFC Wild Card Round:
San Francisco 49ers over Carolina Panthers
New Orleans Saints over Philadelphia Eagles

AFC Divisional Playoffs:

Indianapolis Colts over Tennessee Titans
Baltimore Ravens over New York Jets

NFC Divisional Playoffs:

Green Bay Packers over New Orleans Saints
Atlanta Falcons over San Francisco 49ers

AFC Championship:

Baltimore Ravens over Indianapolis Colts
Baltimore will finally get revenge on the Colts. The defense will be able to put pressure on Peyton Manning and advance to Dallas.

NFC Championship:

Atlanta Falcons over Green Bay Packers
It may be ice cold at Lambeau Field in late January but Matty Ice and the Falcons will shock the Packers and get to the Super Bowl for the second time in franchise history.

SUPER BOWL XLV:
BALTIMORE RAVENS over Atlanta Falcons
It hurts me to say a division rival to the Steelers is going to win the Super Bowl, but the Ravens have surrounded Joe Flacco with two very good receivers and one of the best running backs in the league. They will be able to win with offense for the first time in Ray Lewis' career. But Ray and Ed Reed will do most of the work on Super Sunday beating the Falcons 24-7.

Top 10 MLB and NFL Players of All-Time

Tim Leavitt and Brendan Driscoll (who's list is clearly better) give you their lists of the greatest baseball and football players of All-Time. Even though we have only seen about 5 of these guys actually play, we know what we are talking about it.

Tim's Baseball List

1. Babe Ruth-If I had a time machine, selling Babe Ruth to fund No, No Nanette would be in be in the top 3 of things I would change. Not to mention you don’t earn more nicknames than I have fingers by being a dud.
2. Cy Young-This guy has more wins than Lou Gehrig had home runs and kept an era at 2.63.
3. Willie Mays-The essence of a 5 tool player. 2x MVP(Racist) hit .303 and hit 660 Home Runs.
4. Walter Johnson-The stats blow your mind, 110 Shutouts, an era of 2.17 and 417 wins...no big deal.
5. Ted Williams-The greatest hitter with the last name not Ruth. Arguably could’ve broken Ruth’s records. .344 average, 521 home runs and he missed 3 years volunteering for our country.
6. Ty Cobb-In an era dominated by pitching(see above) the man hit .366 and is second in all-time hits. Maybe the biggest jerk to lace them up, but there is no disputing the greatness.
7. Stan Musial-I’m a sucker for people who respect the game, but honestly .331, 475 Home Runs, 3x MVP, 3x World Series Champ needs no defense...consistently overlooked because he was one of the nicest, most humble ball players of all time.
8. Christy Matthewson-373 Wins, 2.13 era and 79 shutouts. Enough said.
9. Joe DiMaggio-3x MVP, .325 average and 9x world series champion. No coincidence that the winningest era in the history of the winningest franchise occurred during the prime of his career.
10. Sandy Koufax-The numbers don’t blow anybody away(comparatively)...but during an 11 year career he amassed 165 wins, 2.76 era, an MVP and 3 Cy Youngs. Had the best pure stuff, I’d argue, of all time. Bring the Dodgers back to Brooklyn.

Brendan's Baseball List

1. Hank Aaron
- The true homerun king, plus he's the all-time leader in RBI's. 3771 hits with a career .305 batting average. The most underrated player of all-time, but not by this kid. Hammering Hank the best ever.
2. Willie Mays- Almost 1A. 660 Homers, 24 all star games, 12 gold gloves, A legend of the sport.
3. Ted Williams- .406 batting average in 1941, the last player to .400, a lifetime .344 batting average and 521 homeruns, plus he lost 3 years to world war II, who knows what his numbers could have been.
4. Walter Johnson- The Big Train was a bad man. 417 wins, 110 shutouts, with only a 2.17 ERA. When he retired he was the strikeout leader with 3,509. He was the only member of the 3000K club for 50 years until Bob Gibson joined in 1974.
5. Babe Ruth- "Babe Ruth was nothing more than a fat old man with little girl legs"
6. Ty Cobb- 4189 hits, 11 batting titles, the all-time leader in batting average .366. He retired holding the records for most runs (not broken until 2001), most hits (broken in 1985). Let's be serious that's one of the best ever.
7. Josh Gibson- The black Babe Ruth. If the Negro League kept stats they would show he hit over 800 dingers in his career plus he died at the young age of 35 before he got his chance to play in the Major Leagues.
8. Cy Young- No one will ever get close to his win total of 611. He is also the all-time leader in games started, innings pitched, and complete games with 749. Times have changed and pitchers have become babies and don't pitch over 7 innings but his numbers put him on this list.
9. Albert Pujols- 10 straight years of 30 homers and 100+ RBI's has him off to the greatest start of a career ever. He could end up number 1 on this list in 10 years as long as he isn't on the roids.
10. Derek Jeter- It pains me to say it but the guy is a winner. 5 championships. 11 time all-star. 2926 hits. He's one of the best shortshops ever and one of the best players I've ever seen.

Tim's Football List

1. Jim Brown-Watch tape of this man and then say say anybody is better...I dare you.
2. Jerry Rice-Nobody is even close to touching his records. 1,549 Receptions. 197 TD’s, 3x Superbowl Champion. Bottom line, there is a very long Wikipedia page dedicated to Jerry’s records.
3. Walter Payton-Nicknamed sweetness for a reason, made the game look easy. 16,726 rushing yards, 110 touchdowns and made the pro bowl 9x when half the league didn’t make the pro bowl.
4. Dan Marino-If he threw to Jerry Rice, automatically double each players stats. He was so good he made the Marx brothers a household name in the 90’s. 61,361 career passing yards and 420 yards. I was tempted to put Montana here, but this is about pure talent and I think Marino had more.
5. Jack Lambert-I flip flopped between Lambert and Taylor for a while. Eventually came to the consensus that Lambert made everybody on his team a lot better, and lets be real...greatest defense of all time was any Steelers defense in the 70’s...one reason Mr. Lambert.
6. Barry Sanders-Played as many years as Ladanian Tomlinson and has 4,000 more rushing yards. Ran behind a mediocre line and made me choke on my turkey every fourth thursday in November. I never choke on turkey.
7. Lawrence Taylor-If I had to pick one person to walk down a dark alley in the Bronx with me, I’d pick this man. It’s nearly impossible to calculate the impact a middle linebacker has on his team, so that’s why I chose the LT. MVP, 9x pro bowler, 2x Super Bowl Champ and 142 sacks.
8. Anthony Munoz-The greatest offensive lineman ever. The only player on this or any list that can say they made the pro bowl and all pro team 11 straight years. I think that even Ki-Jana Carter could rush for at least 1,000 behind him.
9. Reggie White-Some dispute this, but I will say it anyways the greatest defensive lineman ever. Never the biggest, strongest or fastest...but for some reason always the best. The most important defensive lineman's statistic: 197 sacks is second all time, Reggie also missed a year playing in the USFL. 10x first team all pro, and 13x pro bowl.
10. Joe Montana-It is hard arguing against putting Joe Montana somewhere on a top 10 list. Obviously owns great numbers and without question benefited from throwing to Jerry Rice, but any person who wins 4 Super Bowls and is the leader of his team needs to be somewhere.

Brendan's Football List

1. Jim Brown- As much as it hurts me to call a Cleveland Brown the best football player ever, I have to. He only played 9 seasons, made the pro bowl every year, won 3 MVP's, averaged 104.3 yards per game. But his most impressive accomplishment is that he actually lead the Browns to Championship in 1964, the last championship won in Cleveland.
2. Barry Sanders- The most elusive running back of all-time. 10 seasons, 10 pro bowls, 3rd all time with 15,269 rushing yards including 2,053 yards in 1997. He was the only reason to watch the Lions in the 1990's.
3. Jerry Rice
- By far the best wide receiver of all-time. He re-wrote the record book. 1549 receptions, 22895 receiving yards, 208 total touchdowns. Those records might be the more unbreakable than Joe Dimaggio's hit streak.
4. Walter Payton
- Mike Ditka described him as the greatest football player he had ever seen but even greater as a human being. I'll listen to Ditka, plus the 16,726 rushing yards don't hurt.
5. Lawrence Taylor- Not exactly the best human being ever, but he changed the position of linebacker. In 1985 he recorded 20.5 sacks and won the MVP award, which is one of the greatest seasons ever by a defensive player.
6. Peyton Manning
- He is already the best Quarterback of all-time. He will own every record in the book if Brett Favre ever retires. He is a 4-time MVP and has won a Super Bowl. He also never gets touched so he could play for another 10 seasons. When he retires he might be on the top of this list.
7. Jack Lambert
- 4-time Super Bowl championship and the leader of the Steel Curtain defense. Not only was he the best Middle Linebacker ever, but he may have been the most intimidating player in the history of the sport.
8. Joe Greene- The most important player in the history of the Steelers franchise. He was the fourth pick in the 1969 NFL draft and quickly turned one of the worst teams in football into the best. A 4-time Super Bowl Champion and one of the best defensive linemen of all time.
9. Ray Lewis- Like Jim Brown, It pains me to put a Raven on this list, but the man is a monster. He has been the leader of the franchise since they left Cleveland. Super Bowl XXV MVP, I pray he retires every year because he is the best linebacker I have ever seen play (other than James Harrison, but everyone hates him)
10. Deacon Jones- One bad man. He hated quaterbacks and invented the sack. Truthfact. Watch his highlights or listen to him speak and you will understand what I'm saying.
11. Hines Ward
- I had to add an 11 spot for my favorite player ever. 2-time Super Bowl Champ and the XL MVP. The Steelers leader in receiving in every category. He's the definition of a Pittsburgh Steeler. I hope he plays forever.
12. Troy Polamalu - I'm sorry but Troy is the best player I have ever seen play. He is the definition of a game changer. Ever game he plays he will make a play that blows your mind. He is the reason the Steelers have won 2 super bowls since 2005.

FINAL MOCK DRAFT

The goal is to get 10 correct picks. My first year I got 9 right. Last year didn't go so well, with only 6 right. Hopefully in year 3 I do better. The Under/Over is 9.5. I'm taking the Over.

1. St. Louis Rams---Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
I really don't think Bradford is going to be a great NFL quarterback but the Rams have to take the best QB on the board.
2. Detroit Lions---Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
He could be one of the best defensive lineman for the next decade and a Pro Bowler this year.
3. Tampa Bay Bucs---Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
The next Warren Sapp? The Bucs will be thrilled to pick McCoy, who will join Suh in the Pro Bowl.
4. Washington Redskins---Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
With McNabb at QB now they need some linemen to protect him.
5. Kansas City Chiefs---Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
The Chiefs might go with the safe pick of Bulaga, but Berry could be a game changing safety in the NFL and could be a Pro Bowler this year.
6. Seattle Seahawks---Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
7. Cleveland Browns---Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech
8. Oakland Raiders---Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State
I think Al Davis will try to redeem himself from is turrible pick of Heyward-Bey last year with another WR. I think Dez has a bad reputation for no reason; he could be a great receiver.
9. Buffalo Bills---Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
10. Jacksonville Jaguars---C.J Spiller, RB, Clemson
Spiller gives the Jags more offensive firepower that they need to keep up with the Colts and Texans
11. Philadelphia Eagles (projected with Denver)---Earl Thomas, S, Texas
The Eagles want Thomas and they are going to need to move up to get him.
12. Miami Dolphins---Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee
13. San Francisco 49ers---Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers
14. Seattle Seahawks---Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
If Clausen falls to 14, the Seahawks need to grab him. I think he will be a bust but at 14 he is a good value.
15. New York Giants---Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama
The G-Men need a linebacker now that Antonio Pierce is gone.
16. Tennessee Titans---Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida
17. San Francisco 49ers---Joe Haden, CB, Florida
His bad 40-time at the combine killed his draft stock. He will be a steal at 17 for the 49ers. He is a top 10 talent.
18. Pittsburgh Steelers---Maurkice Pouncey, C, Florida
The Steelers need an offensive linemen now that Big Ben is gone for 6 games or maybe forever. They need to pound the rock and Pouncey would help.
19. Atlanta Falcons---Brandon Graham, DE, Michigan
The next LaMarr Woodley. Graham is a beast and will be a pro bowler in his rookie year.
20. Houston Texans---Kareem Jackson, CB, Alabama
21. Cincinnati Bengals---Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
Unfortunately it doesn't seem like Aaron Hernandez is going in the first round but this would be a spot for a TE to get drafted.
22. New England Patriots---Sergio Kindle, LB, Texas
He is a great fit for the Patriots defense, which need to get more speed and talent.
23. Green Bay Packers---Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho
I love Iupati. I hope the Steelers take him to fill the hole left by Alan Faneca.
24. Denver Broncos (Projected trade from Philadelphia)---Sean Witherspoon, LB, Missouri
25. Baltimore Ravens---Demaryius Thomas, WR, Georgia Tech
26. Arizona Cardinals---Jerry Hughes, OLB, TCU
27. Dallas Cowboys---Charles Brown, OT, USC
28. San Diego Chargers---Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno State
29. New York Jets---Taylor Mays, S, USC
The Jets really don't need anything else, they are already the Super Bowl favorite in my opinion. But Mays is a beast for a safety and his 4.24 speed at the combine makes him a first round talent and a steal for the Jets.
30. Minnesota Vikings---Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State
31. Indianapolis Colts---Rodger Saffold, OT, Indiana
32. New Orleans Saints---Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State

Round 2
38. Cleveland Browns---Colt McCoy, QB, Texas
I think he could become the best QB in this draft, but if he goes to the Browns he is destined to fail.
52. Pittsburgh Steelers---Tim Tebow, QB, Florida
Trade Big Ben and get Tebow to be the future QB. At least he won't assault women and crash his motorcycle. Plus he is going to be the hardest working player in the NFL and the best character guy in the world.

The State of the Steelers

The message of the Pittsburgh Steelers for as long as the Rooney's have been running things has been character over championships.
Thus the reason why they shipped Santonio Holmes out of town for a 5th round draft pick. Last year Holmes caught 79 balls, for 1248 yards, and 5 touchdowns. Those stats are worth more than 5th round draft pick. Just over two years ago Santonio made one of the greatest plays in franchise history and he won the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII. Yet, his off the field issues have continued and now as a Jet he will be suspended four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy again.
This move made by the Steelers shows their philosophy. If you are a punk off the field you don't deserve to be a Pittsburgh Steeler. I was not happy when I heard Holmes got traded because it certainly doesn't increase their chances of winning another super bowl. But, I am now glad that the Steelers got rid of Holmes for the fact that he never learned from his previous mistakes. He got suspended by the Steelers for a game in 2008 for getting arrested with possession of marijuana, since then he has thrown a glass bottle at a women's dome and apparently failed another drug test. One strike is a mistake, the second is a problem, the third is a trend and I don't see Santonio breaking that trend, so have fun in New York buddy.
As for Ben Roethlisberger, who now has more screw-ups than Super Bowl rings, is awaiting a decision from the commish about his punishment. Frankly I think the Steelers have to trade Big Ben. Not because they would look racist for trading the black wide receiver and keeping the white quarterback. The Steelers are gold standard of the NFL and have created something called the Rooney rule, which lead them to hire a black young head coach just four years ago. So don't say they are racist because that is absurd.
Anyway back to Ben, not only did he almost kill himself on his motorcycle after winning Super Bowl XL, but he has now been accused twice of sexual assault/raping two young women. Even though he has not been charged with a crime, there is obviously something wrong with him for continuing to put himself in bad situations. I would have to say these mistakes are becoming a trend. There are also questions of Ben's impact on the locker room. Last year Hines Ward called out Big Ben for missing an important game late in the season against the Ravens with a concussion. I'm not in the locker room but it seems like some guys like him and others don't. But I'll side with Hines Ward, for he is the definition of a Pittsburgh Steeler.
Big Ben is suppose to be the face of the franchise after he received a 100 million dollar contract just before last year. Yet, he isn't acting like it. The Steelers are not the Raiders or Bungals, who take in criminals and relish in the bad boy act.
I think the Steelers need to part ways with Big Ben even if it means not winning a Super Bowl until they find a new franchise quarterback. I don't expect the Steelers to trade him because of the contract he has will make it nearly impossible to move him. If he's not traded I think that Roger Goodell has to suspend him for at least 4 games and then the Rooney's should add on at least 4 more for the embarrassment he has caused the team and city. He needs to be shown that the type of activities he has been involved in lately is not acceptable. Even though those 8 games or more probably means the Steelers won't contend for the playoffs this year, I would rather cheer for a quarterback who is a good guy and cares about his community, like Drew Brees, then a schmuck like Ben Roethlisberger. So maybe after those 8-16 games he's out for, he will realize he needs to change and then he can win back most Steelers fans.
My stance of trading Big Ben will probably change once he makes one of his scrambling plays and finds somebody wide open in the endzone, but if he starts the first game of the season, I don't know how I'll feel. I was rooting for Tiger Woods to win the Masters, but I don't think I'll be cheering for Ben. Tiger's actions were immoral but he never broke any laws, Ben has come close to breaking the law and after reading and hearing about what happen to the 20 year old goal in Georgia it is disgusting.
If Ben wants to keep Dinking Like a Champion, go for it, but hopefully he will be on a different team the next time he gets in trouble.

2010 MLB Predictions

27 Predictions about the Major League Baseball Season

1. AL East- Order of Finish: New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays

Yankees: I hate them but they will easily win 100 games and Curtis Granderson might hit 40 homers in the wiffle ball stadium

Rays: They could win 95 games if the back end of their rotation pitches well. Watch for Jeff Niemann and David Price to win 14-17 games.

Red Sox: Everybody loves their pitching and how great their defense is. That's wonderful but when you score two runs a game it will be tough to keep up with the Yanks and Rays.

Orioles: Adam Jones, Nick Markakis, Brian Roberts and Matt Wieters will lead a high-powered offense but their pitching isn't great. They will improve from their 64 wins last season, but a .500 record might be a stretch. Tim Leavitt likes this O's team as he has them winning 85 games.

Blue Jays: No more Doc Halladay, good luck with Ricky Romero as your number one starter. Last place seems like a likely destination for the Jays.

2. AL Rookie of the Year- Neftali Feliz, RHP, Rangers. He is currently a reliever but could take Frank Francisco's closer job because he throws over 100 miles per hour. Forget about the curveball Neftali. Give 'em the heater.

3. NL Rookie of the Year- Jason Heyward, OF, Braves. He is a beast at 6'4'' 220. All spring training he has been hitting 500 foot homers. He could become one of the best players of this new decade.

4. AL Central- Order of Finish: Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, Kansas City Royals, Cleveland Indians

White Sox: Gordon Beckham and Carlos Quentin will carry the offensive load and with a healthy Jake Peavy, Ozzie Guillen will lead the southsiders back to the playoffs.

Tigers: They have a talented pitching staff, but Miguel Cabrera is their only hitter. They can contend if their pitching holds up, but I'm not confident that it will.

Twins: It's hard to pick against the Twins because they always play hard but with no Joe Nathan in the bullpen it will be tough to close out games with their bullpen by committee.

Royals: They will win more than 65 games like they did last year. Their pitching staff is pretty solid with Cy Young winner, Zach Greinke, Gil Meche, Luke Hochevar and closer Joakim Soria. The Royals might get close to 80 wins.

Indians: They won 65 games last year, they could lose close to 100 this year. They are very young and will be competitive in two or three years but not this year.

5. Best Off-Season Move- Curtis Granderson. He is the perfect player for Yankee Stadium. I wouldn't be surprised if he hits 40 homeruns and steals 30 bases.

6. Worst Off-Season Move- John Lackey or Adrian Beltre. For Lackey, his past three years his ERA has gone up and his win total has decreased. Beltre may hit under .200 this year, after coming off his worst season last year and he hasn't done much since '04 when he was on steroids.

7. AL West- Order of Finish: Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, Oakland A's

Angels: They lost Vlad, Lackey, and Chone Figgins but they still have a good lineup, lead by Kendry Morales and a solid rotation. Watch Scott Kazmir this year he could win 20 games. Their experience will allow them to win the division again.

Mariners: Felix Hernandez and Cliff Lee are the best 1-2 punch in baseball. Along with the addition of Chone Figgins, the M's will get guys on base with Chone and Ichiro but do they have the bats to knock them in?

Rangers: They could score 10 runs a game and that is not a joke. Their lineup is one of the best in baseball. The question is will their pitching be good enough to win the division? Scott Feldman and Rich Harden are their best and other then them they have some no-namers.

A's: Ben Sheets could be a nice addition to their young pitching staff but they have no hitters. Cliff Pennington is their shortstop. Who is that? They won't win more than 75 games.

8. AL MVP: Evan Longoria, 33 homeruns and 113 RBI's last season and he's only 24. He will carry the Rays back to the playoffs.

9. NL MVP: Hanley Ramirez. Last year he hit .342 with 24 homers and 106 RBI's. He is by far the best shortstop in baseball and if the Marlins get to the playoffs he will be the reason why.

10. NL East- Order of Finish: Philadelphia Phillies, Atlanta Braves, Florida Marlins, New York Mets, Washington Nationals

Phillies: It's hard to imagine the Phillies not winning the division after the two-time defending NL champs added the best pitcher in baseball, Roy Halladay.

Braves: In Bobby Cox's last season, I think the Braves will be motivated to return him to the playoffs for the final time. Their pitching staff is one of the best with Derek Lowe, Jair Jurrjens, Tommy Hanson and a healthy Tim Hudson. Plus their lineup is very good with Brian McCann, Chipper Jones, Nate Mclouth and future star Jason Heyward.

Marlins: Their pitching staff is very talented, lead by Josh Johnson and Han-Ram might be the best player in baseball other than Pujols. They won 87 games last year, I think they will increase that number and possibly make the playoffs.

Mets: They are very talented with Wright, Reyes, Bay, Beltran, Johan and K-Rod. If they can stay healthy they can contend, but the Mets seemed to be jinxed and the injury bug will most likely strike again.

Nationals: The Nats actually might not be the worst team in baseball this year and could avoid 100 losses. Plus Stephen Strasburg has been proclaimed the best pitching prospect ever, so there is hope for the future.

11. AL Cy Young: Felix Hernandez. He went 19-5 with a 2.49 ERA last year and his ERA has improved every year of his career. Now he has a more talented lineup and defense to back him up.

12. NL Cy Young: Roy Halladay. He has been one of the best pitchers in baseball for the past decade, now he gets to pitch for a team that has gone to the world series two straight years. He could win 24 games.

13. NL Central- Order of Finish: St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros, Pittsburgh Pirates

Cardinals: Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday. Adam Wainwright and Chris Carpenter. They have two great hitters and two great pitchers. The Cards are the class of the division. Last year they won the division by 7 games, it could be as many as 15 this year.

Cubs: Last year the Cubbies won 83 games, their fate rests in the arm of Carlos Zambrano. If he can pitch like he did from 2004-06 then maybe the Cubs can contend for the playoffs but I don't think that will happen.

Brewers: The Brew Crew have big bats in their lineup but Prince Fielder is in the last year of his contract and could be traded at the deadline. However a healthy Yovani Gallardo could determine their chances of a wild card run.

Reds: If Edinson Volquez can return at full strength and Aroldis Chapman can meet some of the large expectations, then the Reds have the pitching that can allow them to make a run at the playoffs. they won 78 games last year, they have a great chance of being above .500 this year.

Astros: Lance Berkman will be out to start the year, forcing more of the load on Carlos Lee and Hunter Pence. The pitching staff is not very deep after Oswalt and Wandy Rodriguez. 74 wins last year, they will be right around that number again.

Pirates: Andrew McCutchen is a very exciting young centerfielder who will probably traded at some point because that's what the Pirates do. Their pitching staff is pretty terrible. I'm hoping they can get to 70 wins but I'll be happy if they avoid 100 losses.

14. Manager of the Year: Bobby Cox, ATL. In his final season as a manager he will lead the Braves back to the playoffs and possibly make a run at another title.

15. NL West- Order of Finish: Colorado Rockies, San Franciso Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres

Rockies: They have a solid pitching staff lead by Ubaldo Jimenez and have a good lineup with power and speed. Troy Tulowitzki is my sleeper pick for MVP. They won 92 games last years after being 10 games below .500 in May. A good start will help the Rockies return to the playoffs.

Giants: I like their pitching with Lincecum, Cain and future ace Madison Bumgarner, but other than Kung Fu Panda (Pablo Sandoval), their offense isn't great and could be the reason for missing the playoffs.

Dodgers: They won the division last year with 95 wins and are bringing back most of the same players, but Manny wasn't the same Manny after being suspended and their pitching staff doesn't have an ace. They could win the division again but I think the Rockies and Giants have improved while the Dodgers have stayed the same.

Diamondbacks: The D'backs will improve from their last place finish in '09. Justin Upton will be an all-star and Mark Reynolds could hit 40 homeruns again. If Brandon Webb is healthy they have three solid starters in Webb, Dan Haren and Edwin Jackson. They have the potential to surprise people and make a run at the division crown.

Padres: They won 75 games last year, I see that number falling into the 60's. There are already rumors of trading Adrian Gonzalez and closer Heath Bell. They do have young talent but won't be in the playoff race this season.

16. AL team that could surprise us- Minnesota Twins, They won the division last years so maybe it won't be very surprising, but the loss of Joe Nathan kills their bullpen. The Twins always make a charge in August and September after everybody had counted them out and they could do that again.

17. NL team that could surprise us- Cincinnati Reds, Their pitching staff has the potential to be one the best rotations in baseball to go along with Joey Votto and Jay Bruce on offense, the Reds could make a run at the Cardinals.

18. Worst team in the league- Cleveland Indians: Two major problems. Their ace Jake Westbrook didn't pitch last year. Second, how is Fausto Carmona still their number two pitcher? He went 5-12, with a 6.32 ERA last year. They will lose 100 games. The Pirates may challenge the Indians for this honor but I think the Indians pitching staff may actually be worse that the Pirates.

19. AL team most likely to flop- Boston Red Sox: Everybody loves them but I don't think they have the bats to contend for the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't win 90 games.

20. NL team most likely to flop- Los Angeles Dodgers: They didn't make any off-season moves that made their team better. They lost Orlando Hudson and all-star at second base and don't have an ace in their rotation. Plus who knows what Manny will show up.

21. AL Wild Card Team- Tampa Bay Rays, The Rays are being overlooked because people are in love with the Red Sox, just like 2008.

22. AL Playoffs---Last team out- Seattle Mariners: Their pitching staff will keep them in the race but they don't have enough power in their lineup to knock in Ichiro and Figgins.

23. NL Wild Card team- Atlanta Braves: It could be a special year for the Braves entering Bobby Cox's last year and Jason Heyward's first.

24. NL Playoffs---Last team out- Florida Marlins: I wouldn't be surprised if they make a run and win another world series but they are still a very young team that might need one more year to grow.

25. AL Championship- Tampa Bay Rays over New York Yankees: I think the Rays are the best team in baseball and I refuse to pick the Yankees.

26. NL Championship- Atlanta Braves over Philadelphia Phillies: The Phils have a great chance of winning the NL for the third straight year but I'd be playing it safe if I went with them.

27. World Series- TAMPA BAY RAYS over Atlanta Braves. World Series MVP: BJ (Bossman Junior) Upton, I'm picking him because he has the greatest nickname of all-time, but the Rays will have too much power and speed for the Braves and will win their first championship in team history.
