2013 NFL Mock Draft / Drinking Game
Like always the goal is to get 10 picks right. The Under / Over is 9.5. Last year I had 9. This year I realize I have no shot at 10, I may not even get 5. Thus, I'm adding a drinking aspect to my Mock Draft, hoping that more people will chose to read.
Here are the rules.
-Take a shot once Roger Goodell comes onto the stage for the first time welcoming us to the NFL Draft
-For every player I correctly pick the team he gets selected by - 1 shot (It probably won't happen a lot)
-When a player gets selected by a team I didn't predict, sip a beer for the amount of picks I was off by. For example, say Dee Milliner does not get drafted 6th overall but rather 13th. You would drink for 7 seconds.
-If a player gets drafted in the 1st round that I didn't even have being selected - 1 shot
-Take a shot if a QB gets selected (possibly two for Nassib or Geno if they get selected by the right team)
Good luck and enjoy the draft people.
Side Note --- The Mullet happened 2 years ago on draft day. #SideAwesomeness.
1. Kansas City Chiefs --- Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M --- If I get the first pick wrong, I'm going to be furious. So Andy Reid help me out.
2. Jacksonville Jaguars --- Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan --- Another tackle. Isn't this draft exciting? However it might be tough to get the nickname for Central Michigan.
3. Oakland Raiders --- Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida --- Since he's going to the Raiders, he's probably destined for a mediocre career.
4. Philadelphia Eagles --- Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma --- Yay, more offensive tackles.
5. Detroit Lions --- Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU --- Ever since Matt Millen and the wide receiver drafting era ended it seems like the Lions take a ton of D-Lineman in the draft (Suh and Fairley). So why not another?
6. Cleveland Brownies --- Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama --- The Brownies would have great corners if they get Milliner to team up with Joe Hayden. But they are the Browns, so they will end up picking in the top 10 again next year.
7. Arizona Cardinals --- Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon --- Maybe with Carson Palmer they fixed the offense, so now they need more defense to compete in the NFC West.
8. Buffalo Bills --- Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse --- I don't think Nassib gets drafted at 8. The Bills might trade down or even wait until round 2. But it makes sense for the Bills to draft him. Their new coach, Doug Marrone coached Nassib at Syracuse. Also, the Bills current starter is Kevin Kolb.
9. New York Jets --- Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSU --- The Jets need a lot of help on both sides of the ball. Hopefully Mingo doesn't turn out to be like Vernon Gholston.
10. Tennessee Titans --- Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah --- In February he was going to be the number one overall pick. His health issue at the combine is apparently fine. So this could be a steal at 10 for the Titans.
11. San Diego Chargers --- Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama
12. Miami Dolphins --- D.J Fluker, OT, Alabama --- Since Jake Long is gone, they need somebody to protect Tannehill or else signing Mike Wallace was useless because all he does is catch bombs.
13. New York Jets --- Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia --- The Jets definitely need play makers. Austin will help whoever is playing QB this season for the Jets.
14. Carolina Panthers --- Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
15. New Orleans Saints --- Jarvis Jones, LB, Georgia
16. St. Louis Rams --- Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
17. Pittsburgh Steelers --- Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame --- I hope Jarvis Jones falls to them honestly. As for Eifert he would be another weapon for Big Ben. I think Heath Miller is going to come back just fine from his knee injury but since Wallace left they need pass catchers. I also hope they don't draft any of the receivers because they don't feel like stars. I also think Eric Reid would be a good pick. I'm very excited but I feel like everybody I want the Steelers to get won't actually get drafted by the Steelers.
18. Dallas Cowboys --- Eric Reid, S, LSU --- Mo Claiborne was their first round pick out of LSU last year. Why not take another defensive back from LSU?
19. New York Giants --- Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina --- Apparently the Giants need help at guard. All the other mock drafters have Cooper being selected in the early teens. So this would be nice for the Giants if he fell.
20. Chicago Bears --- Alec Olgetree, LB, Georgia
21. Cincinnati Bengals --- Cordarrdelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee --- That's a helluva first name spelling wise. A.J Green and him would be a nice duo.
22. St. Louis Rams --- Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama
23. Minnesota Vikings --- Manti Te'o, LB, Notre Dame --- Forgetting about the entire fake girlfriend ordeal, Te'o is a first round pick and probably a good pick for the Vikings.
24. Indianapolis Colts --- Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State
25. Minnesota Vikings --- Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia --- I might be crazy for this one but Christian Ponder does not seem like the long term answer in Minnesota. So why not draft Geno if he is here at 25? The team is all Adrian Peterson anyway, so Geno wouldn't have to take over right away.
26. Green Bay Packers --- Matt Elam, S, Florida
27. Houston Texans --- Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee
28. Denver Broncos --- Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
29. New England Patriots --- Tyrann Mathieu, CB, LSU --- I have no idea who the Patriots are going to pick. They will probably trade picks like they always do. I just want to see the Honey Badger get drafted in the first round and Billy B is probably the only coach willing to do it.
30. Atlanta Falcons --- Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
31. San Francisco 49ers --- Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina
32. Baltimore Ravens --- John Cyprien, S, Florida International
Bonus Pick
Round 2 - Pick 48. Pittsburgh Steelers --- Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina
The Steelers need a running back. I know his knees have been through a lot but when he's healthy he is a BEAST. This could be a steal.
I give myself credit if the player goes to the team I said, even if the pick number isn't correct.

2013 Master's Prediction
This won't be a very long blog but since I correctly picked Bubba Watson to win the Green Jacket last year on twitter, I felt like I should make it bit more official this year by giving it a blog breakdown.
Obviously Tiger is the favorite having won three of his five events this season and Vegas has him at 3/1 odds. However he has not won a major since 2008 and he hasn't won at Augusta since 2005. Plus what's the fun in picking the clear favorite to win? If I pick him to win and he does, big deal. Everybody on ESPN and CBS is going to pick him. That's too boring for me, so I'll pick somebody under the radar.
I would like to pick Bubba again because lets be serious, he's the man.
With all that being said, the 2013 Master's Champion will be Keegan Bradley at 28/1 odds.
To be honest with you, I'm picking him because when I looked up the odds his name jumped off the page at me. Plus Keegan is also my dog's name so...
But then I looked up how he did last year (27th with a score of +2). However that was the first time he played at Augusta. Bradley was recently quoted saying, "It was my first Masters. I learned a lot. Hopefully, I'll apply it this year." I think he will do just that considering how he improved last year during the tournament. He shot a 77 on Friday, which is +5, then he shot 73, 69 on the weekend. With a year of experience under his belt he may be poised to win his second major championship (2011 PGA Championship).
Chances that I just jinxed Keegan. High. Due to the fact that predicting two straight Master's winners seems a little tough. But who knows, golf is a funny game.
