Coach Calhoun

As UConn makes their third appearance in the Final Four since 1999, I think these could be the last games Coach Calhoun is on the sidelines coaching the Huskies. After his health issues as recently as the first round of this years tournament and now the story about possible violations of the recruitment of Nate Miles, I think Calhoun may call it a career if the Huskies can win two more games and secure his third national title in his fabulous career.
UConn would not be the program it is today without Calhoun. Before he came to Connecticut the Huskies were the little guys in the Big East. In his 23 years as UConn's head coach he has lead them to six Big East Championships and 2 National Championships, to go along with his 2005 induction to the National Basketball Hall of Fame and his 805 career wins, will forever put his name among the greatest coaches of all-time.
Calhoun is taking the advice of former UNC coach, Dean Smith. "He said don't decide after a win or loss, and don't do it right after the season." It will take time to see if Calhoun calls it a career or decides to come back for another season. I certainly hope he continues to coach the Huskies.

The Crime Dog

Fred McGriff, aka the Major League Super Star promoter for Tom Emanski's Defensive Drills Video that lead to back, to back, to back AAU national championships becomes eligible for the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010.
The Crime Dog played baseball the right way, he was one player in the steroid era that did not use performance enhancing drugs. With his 493 career home runs, 2490 hits and his five all-star appearances gives him a legitimate chance to enter the hall. The Crime Dog was one player that I remember watching when I younger and his induction to the hall of fame is clearly deserved.
The Crime Dog played for six different teams in his career and the question of which hat he should wear if he gets inducted into the hall of fame is a tricky question. You can make an argument for the Blue Jays, Braves or even the Devil Rays, but I honestly believe he should be the first player to be inducted with his own hat. The lid he wore in the Tom Emanski video will forever be part of his legacy and what is a greater way to honor the Crime Dog by putting him in the Hall of Fame with that hat?
